Priceless and Phenomenal

The views are priceless and the customer service is phenomenal. My husband, 13 and 8 year old, and I decided to enjoy a weekend away from the city. It did not disappoint. We took a telescope, volleyball and football to keep ourselves busy. Unfortunately, we forgot the board games. The house is divided into three separate sections: the common area and each room is on opposite sides from each other with their own bathrooms. We also took groceries and water. All the cooking was done in the house. There was Black Rifle coffee (my fave!), spices and every kitchen item you need to cook. I just wish there was more bathroom towels. We drove a Subaru outback and it did just fine.

amazing experience

It is an amazing experience to stay here. The stars! Make sure you have a four wheel drive vehicle, you’ll need it for the drive up. We weren’t brave enough to get up and down the road more than once, but were very happy hiding out at the house (and had previously stayed in Terlingua for easier access to the park). A totally unique stay!

secluded and quiet

Secluded and quiet. The perfect weekend. Hiking right behind the house was awesome.

Amazing Secluded Quietness with Views

This property is wonderful if your looking for peace and quiet seclusion with beautiful views of the Big Bend area mountains. It’s out of the way a little but so worth the trip. It seemed like we had the sky and mountain to ourselves. We will definitely stay here again and hopefully again.

Stunning! Amazing! An absolutely perfect place to stay. Ross was a wonderful host.

This place is fantastic

This place is fantastic. Super cool air bnb set up. The porch is perfectly protected against the wind and perfect for sitting outside with friends looking at the stars. Love the location!

Unique off-the-beaten-path gem

A unique off the beaten path gem. We loved sitting out on the deck and watching the sunset. I wish we had more time to relax there. It is an amazing house with a cool layout. We hiked on the property and that was an adventure. Big Bend is still far away so if you are going there for the day - it is a long driving day.

Extraordinary Starry Getaway

We stayed 3 nights with our teens, cooked all meals there, and enjoyed the incredible views and star gazing each night. Clean, comfortable beds, and everything you need to get away from it all. Went hiking/touring at Big Bend National Park, Terlingua Ghost Town, and Fort Davis State Park. So glad we brought our telescope and a 4WD SUV. Only wish is that we had given ourselves more time. This home is definitely a labor of love for Ross and his family. We will definitely come back!

highly recommend

Easily one of the most thoughtfully appointed homes that we have stayed at. The views were amazing and you can literally hike from right out the front door. Highly recommend if you are visiting the Big Bend area. Ross was truly a great host.

Amazing

Amazing, secluded location up in the mountains. Would highly recommend.

Lovely Cabin in the Desert

The cabin was very clean with lovely decor and excellent views! The stars at night are amazing!! Not to far away from Big Bend National Park. No issues with the cabin being off the grid. Communication was very easy with quick responses. A vehicle with AWD or 4-wheel drive is needed as stated, and totally worth it. You will not regret staying here.

Most Immaculate, Majestic Property

My husband and I have traveled extensively and this is hands down the most immaculate, majestic property we've had the pleasure of enjoying. It's proximity to Big Bend was perfect and the quiet joy of nature all around us at night was blissful. The view of the expansive terrain during the day and the bright stars at night were amazing. We are anxious to come back again soon!

we couldn't have asked for a more special place to stay

This was our first trip to Big Bend and we couldn't have asked for a more special place to stay. Incredible views from the front of the house and spectacular views from a short hike up the mountain on the property. One of the coolest homes we have ever stayed in and can't recommend this place enough. Ross, the host, made us feel right at home the minute we stepped foot on his beautiful property. He was responsive and attentive throughout the entire process leading up to the trip and during our duration of the trip. If you want to get away and explore West Texas, you have to stay here!!

Amazing Place

An amazing place with a great view and location. Mr Ross was very helpful and responsive. The home itself was very comfortable and had everything I needed. Definitely suggest renting an SUV or truck as part of the road getting there isn't paved and hilly. Highly recommend this location especially if you're looking for great views in a comfortable, private setting!

Cabin is Amazing

The cabin is amazing- beautifully crafted and comfortable inside, and awesome views into the plain and hills beyond. The outdoor seating is perfect for taking it all in, and relaxing in the desert peace. Great sunrises/sunsets & stars. Ross was very helpful and sorted any hiccups that we had.

Amazing house to match the amazing location

Amazing house to match the amazing location. Ross answered all of our questions - about the house and area - beforehand, sent recommendations for hikes, had a great map with local restaurants, and met us down the street to lead us to the house. It’s tricky to find but worth the drive and our stay was perfect. The stars are unbeatable. It was completely silent and gorgeous at night. Everything you need is there. It is beautifully decorated and the perfect blend of off grid and comfortable. 100% recommend.

Fabulous host with a fabulous home

Fabulous host with a fabulous home. Very unique home with huge windows looking out to a beautiful view. Our sunrises, sunsets and night skies were outstanding! Ross is a gracious, caring and attentive host.

Lovely House

Boca is a lovely house situated amidst peaceful and beautiful mountains. The sunrises, sunsets and stargazing views were spectacular. Ross went above and beyond to insure that we were comfortable and familiar with both the house and local hiking opportunities.

Truly Spectacular

Absolutely amazing. The house itself is obviously a work of love by the owner, with lots of small touches that make it feel super special. Bedrooms and bathrooms in excellent shape. Common area, with kitchen and small seating area, is perfect for quiet nights and mornings. And that’s to say nothing of the property itself, which is unreal. The views, the land, the moon, the stars: beautiful. One note; listen to Ross about the road and your car! My mom's SUV (gmc Acadia) made it up the gravel road to the cabin just fine but you will definitely need a high clearance vehicle.

Views are amazing

Great stay. Views are amazing and the house was immaculate.

I'd recommend Boca to Anyone

My wife and I spent a week at Boca for our honeymoon and we loved it. Ross was generous and accommodating and the cabin is a real stunner. It’s truly in the middle of nowhere, every time we left to go somewhere and arrived back at the cabin felt like an adventure.

As it is the middle of nowhere, be mindful that water and power usage need to be monitored while staying here and driving almost anywhere from the cabin takes about an hour. While not always as “convenient” as city life, it’s absolutely worth it. We cooked almost all of our meals here and the kitchen was more than adequate. Ross’s place and the area it’s in allows you to experience this amazing gift of a planet without filters - I’d recommend Boca to anyone.

Incredible Place to Unwind

Boca de la Roca was an incredible place to unwind during our December visit to the Big Bend. Finding the place would've been interesting, but Ross helps guide you to the location during check in. The cabin is situated a reasonable distance (about 10-15 mins) into the hills off of Terlingua Ranch Rd, which provides the main windows and deck with a very grand view of the far off mountains to the north, and the rear windows with a closer but smaller jagged hill and ridge to the south. Despite the early sunset this time of year the view of the stars was quite literally awesome, and the sunrise view from the east each morning (visible from both bedrooms) equally so. Bring a telescope if you can. Despite having most of our attention taken by the views, the building's design and construction was also really cool, and was one of our favorite places we've stayed in quite some time. Overall Ross was a great and friendly host during the entire stay; we hope to return!

Amazing Experience

We, my husband, 2 boys (ages 9 & 7), and myself, loved our stay. Very unique experience. House was in excellent condition. Stars were amazing. Kids loved exploring the property. We loved the peace and quiet and beautiful views, especially sunrise and sunset. Hope to return in the future!

Really Cool Off-Grid Cabin

Really cool off-grid cabin. Stayed here with my wife and two boys. The "barefoot" layout in which the two bedrooms and the kitchen/dinning room were all separated added privacy for each suite.

Can't Say Enough

Can't say enough about this cabin. THE VIEWS! My wife and I had a wonderful time escaping to this private rental.

Above and Beyond

Ross was such a good host! He went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and very hospitable! Drove us up to the house and meet us in person. We don’t usually get that! The house was beautiful and has AMAZING views and very secluded! We really enjoyed our stay!

byCasey W. onBoca de la Roca
amazing remote getaway

Such a beautiful home in such a beautiful remote setting. Definitely recommend a 4x4 to get there and long pants to hike up to the mesa. Ross was super responsive and took the time to show us to the property and how to get the most out of our stay.

Unique Property!

Unique property! And a bit of an adventure to get to! Kellen was an excellent host with all the insight and attention you could ask for. Big Bend is an unbelievable place, and this spot is the perfect jump off. Highly recommend.

Unique Experience

Boca de la Roca is a beautifully designed, and thoughtfully executed remote cabin. It was exactly as described: modern design, high end finishes, yet off the grid where your SUV (or similar high-clearance vehicle) is required. It's close to Big Bend and had amazing views for miles. Last, Ross, the host, was great.

The one unexpected characteristic that made our stay different than expected was that the bedrooms aren't connected to the main area by a hallway. You have to take a few steps outside to go back into the kitchen area. This gave our little one a bit of fear, sleeping alone. Maybe we missed this detail before booking.

In the end, it worked for us, and provided a great oasis from hiking in the park. 5 stars, would do again.

Magical Place!

If you are looking for an off the grid location near Big Bend, this place is for you! The house is remote, with beautiful views in every direction. We loved the indoor/outdoor feel of the house with the deck connecting all the rooms. It was the perfect place to eat, drink and let the kids run around. Super unique and special place!

byJeremy N. onBoca de la Roca
This Place Is A True Gem

This place is a true gem. The location alone can't be beat--360 degree views, total silence, outrageous night sky. Every detail from the orientation of the house to maximize view and catch a great evening breeze to the custom fixtures in the bathrooms makes this place incredibly unique. Ross is an excellent host and his property is truly something special.

Amazing Place!

Amazing place! This is a perfect place for those who are seeking opportunities to disconnect. A secluded cabin, perfect for spending time with nature. Bring an off road capable vehicle, bring hiking boots, bring a sense of adventure and wonder. Leave the electronics at home.

Wonderfully Remote Getaway

Boca de la Roca is a wonderfully remote getaway, with nice breezes, beautiful views, and tremendous night skies. We visited at the height of the hot season and had a comfortable stay with the ability to only cool rooms that we needed. We spent most of our time on the spacious deck taking in the panoramic vistas. Check-in/out were seamless and it was very helpful to have Christin lead us up there when we arrived.

Do plan on bringing provisions with you. The drive down the mountain is a little challenging and, once down, you’re still some distance from groceries and supplies.

We would definitely return for another stay and thoroughly enjoyed this one.

Peaceful, Cozy, Amazing Views

The dark sky at Boca de La Roca did not disappoint! We went for the Milky Way, so the amazing daytime view was a bonus. This place is cozy, clean, and so cool. The peacefulness of this property is unmatched - very quiet and safe. It was a nice, easy drive to Big Bend. Would absolutely recommend.

Could Not Have Been Happier

If you get the chance to stay here, do it. My husband and I chose this location the weekend we got married and we could not have been happier with our decision. The views are unmatched and the space is beautiful!

byChris C. onBoca de la Roca
The Views!

The views! Ross was very helpful during check-in, and he thoroughly explained all the important features of the house. It is truly off the grid, sitting high up on a hill with some of the best views in the area. Quiet & private, this place is perfect for getting away. We appreciated the craftsmanship and attention to detail in the house. We'd love to stay here again sometime!

A Definite Stay

Boca de Roca is close to all we wanted to visit in Big Bend. The location is a plus and the night sky is amazing. We spent several nights star gazing and enjoyed the nearby hiking. Ross is a great host and very informative of the area. A definite stay if you’re looking to visit Big Bend area. We are looking forward to staying again.

Stunning Stay!

We loved our time here! Beautiful Surroundings!

Everything About This Was Beautiful

The property. The house. Everything about this was beautiful! The stars at night are unlike any sky I’ve ever seen before! It is utterly breathtaking. Seriously such a phenomenal mini trip that we enjoyed and was much needed! The house is designed perfectly to capture both the amazing sunsets AND sunrises! I truly hope we can return to enjoy this spot again!!

The Most Beautiful Skies From a Super Cool House

Ross has done an amazing job with this house. Truly memorable stay. He was an excellent host and even sent me a text to check in half-way through our stay. The views are incredible both day and night. However, the night sky is like nothing I can recall seeing for a very long time. Words nor photos do it justice. It has to be seen in person. Very peaceful and relaxing. The drive to up the mountain is a bit scary the first time up, but we were pros by the end of the trip. You need an SUV or something with good clearance to drive up. If you are looking for something that is super close to shopping or close to really anything, this is not for you. This stay is for peace and quiet with amazing views near nothing. It delivers that 100%. We stayed three nights and wished we could have stayed at least one more night. We went to big bend national for two days and then went into Marfa for a day and stayed for the Marfa lights. It was about an hour and a half from the house to get to Marfa and the park entrance was about forty-five minutes or so. We travel frequently staying in dozens of homes with our 14 and 16 year old boys and they thought it was one of the coolest homes we've stayed in. We would do the trip again just as we planned it. We loved everything about it.

Can't Say Enough Wonderful Things

Can’t say enough wonderful things about staying here. The views were amazing by day with all the mesas in sight and by night with all the stars. Ross was a great host and communication was great. We met him down the hill when we first arrived and he guided us to the rental as the address will not show up on google maps. He showed us how the house worked as everything is off grid and you must be aware of your electricity and water usage. We had some cell service there with AT&T and wifi was also provided. We can’t wait to stay there again one day!

byMonica onBoca de la Roca
We loved our stay at Boca De La Roca!

We loved our stay at Boca De La Roca! We pretty much primarily stay in Airbnbs when we travel and this was easily one of our favorites, we will definitely be returning. If you are looking for a peaceful way to connect with nature with beautiful serene views, this is the right place. We even had some amazing bird watching and we got a special visit from a couple of deer in the early morning hours. The nights didn’t disappoint either, let’s just say the stars at night are big and bright…well you know the rest! It’s pretty cool staying in a home “off the grid” and it was easy, we just followed all of the guidance provided by Ross. Getting up and down the hill to the home wasn’t difficult either, we had 2 AWD vehicles so I think that helped, it’s a piece of cake once you get the hang of it! Thanks for the great stay Ross, hope to make it back soon!!!

The Premier Big Bend Property

As someone who has stayed at multiple West Texas vacation rentals over the years, I can say with confidence you will not find a better view or property owner that took the time and attention to detail to create such a wonderful space. While there is a neighbor to the East of the property within eyesight, it did not detract from the stay or vibe that most people seek to gain from the area. Beds were comfortable, amenities of the property were excellent… my only suggestion would be more comfortable outdoor furniture since that is what most people are looking to enjoy. The furniture on the patio doesn’t provide much comfort for long periods of outdoor enjoyment so that is my only critique but the property overall maintains a solid 5/5 rating. Will definitely return!

the stars at night, are big and bright

stargazing was superior. the owner/property manager met us at the entrance of the ranch and escorted us to the property as the terlingua ranch is very large. once we arrived, he personally instructed us on the use of all amenities. he is local which is always a plus when u are visiting somewhere new. he had recommendations on trips into the parks, hikes, and local eateries and supplies if needed. there were even some snippet’s about the surrounding geology for the property located in the property welcome book. the structure was as advertised. extremely clean, modern and comfortable: beds were very very comfortable and the showers were huge!! toiletries provided were nice quality as well. bath linens were soft and lush. ac, when needed, worked fine. fans throughout and mother nature provided cool breezy nights. fridge was perfect size for four adults to eat dinners at the cabin each night, and still store picnic items and snacks on top of that. gas cooktop and stove worked well.. absolutely NO BUGS! plenty of parking. extremely peaceful, quiet, and full of views that are as good as or better than those of the parks. conveniently located to both state and national park. as owner suggested, best to buy supplies in alpine or other city on way in as it is pretty high priced in terlingua if you run out or make initial purchases in terlingua. can’t wait to return. hard to believe such a nice property is called a cabin!!! highly recommend this property to anyone visiting the parks who wants privacy and beauty without having to “rough it”. hard to imagine you have wi-fi and tv that works when you can step outside and look up to see the milky way with the beaked eye. can’t say enough good things about this rental.

Spring Break Getaway

The view was amazing! The home is well crafted and fits the surroundings perfectly. It was a great place to relax after long days hiking in Big Bend. The host was the best. He met us to show us around the property (it’s solar powered w/backup generator) and had suggestions for the area. The only hurdle is getting to it. The road is rocky, so I highly recommend a vehicle/tires that can handle off-roading. Enjoy your stay!!

byTeresa B. onBoca de la Roca
A Secluded Big Bend Visit

This is a really nice “off the grid” property. We have always wanted to stay in a home that relied on solar power and this one fit the bill. We brought our own food and ate out once. The kitchen is well stocked and we had no problem preparing meals. Be ready to think about conserving water and electricity. We spent the majority of our 4 days in Big Bend hiking so was not at the house throughout the day. The road to the house requires a high clearance vehicle. We had a Tacoma truck that worked out fine. Ross is a great host and will answer all your questions. The views here are spectacular!

bySeth C. onBoca de la Roca
Amazing Location

Amazing location and Ross bent over backwards to make us feel safe and welcome. The house, while off grid, had all the comforts of home. The location was very close to Big Bend but stood as a destination unto itself. The sunrise, sunsets and stars will leave you awestruck!

byJason Z. onBoca de la Roca
Great Getaway

This location was as described, off grid and remote but still with all the basic comforts of home. We did not have much time here and wish we had more but were able to enjoy the peace and serenity of being near... nothing for a couple of days. It was a great base camp point for BBNP as well as Terlingua and Alpine. Would definitely make sure your vehicle can withstand the trip up the mountainside, our SUV did just fine but would have been more worried in a lower profile car or one that didn't have really good new tires (or at least a working spare). We hope to return to spend more than just a couple days here, it is a good getaway from the hustle and bustle of "real life" with 360 degree views of mountains and hills in every direction.
